JoyceDeWitt started performing on stage at age 13. DeWitt graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Arts. During her summer stock performance she was enticed by the director to attend UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. She was given the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt stated that she had never met the actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She worked as a secretary during her time at UCLA. The role she played by DeWitt as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-84 series is among her most well-known. She was cast in the show's pilot and then was hired. She also played Janet in an episode from 1979 on the spinoff show The Ropers. DeWitt was the final actor to appear in Three's Company's 1984 finale. She also appeared in an episode of Finder of Lost Lovers in 1984. Then she stopped acting for many years. Her acting resume included participation in an episode of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] She also appeared in Spring Fling, an episode of 1995 TV comedy. A character based upon her, voiced and voiced by another actress, was featured in the 1997 episode of Pinky and the Brain. The actress appeared on an episode of Cybill and made an appearance on the final episode of Living Single. Her TV shows of the 2000s include Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as and Call of the Wild.
